A StationXML-Based Platform for Seismic Station Metadata Management and Services

Accurate and standardized seismic station metadata are fundamental to earthquake monitoring and research, enabling precise event localization, magnitude estimation, and waveform correction. To address challenges in metadata standardization and management within Chinese seismic data centers, this paper proposes a StationXML-based platform featuring a unified metadata model, efficient database architecture, legacy format conversion tools, metadata prioritization mechanisms, and rigorous validation procedures. The system provides user-friendly web interfaces and FDSN-compliant RESTful APIs for interactive editing and real-time metadata access. Its modular, scalable design enhances data interoperability and operational efficiency, facilitating future integration with waveform analysis and multidisciplinary seismic monitoring.
