Radio Environment Map Construction Method for Complex Scenarios: The Combination of Concentric Circle Algorithm and Detection Algorithm of Unknown Transmit Sources

The existing methods for constructing radio electromagnetic maps (REM) have problems such as requiring a large amount of measurement data, complex algorithms to estimate the signal strength of unknown points based on measurement points and so on. This paper presents a method for constructing REM for complex Scenarios where both known and unknown transmit sources coexist. Firstly, a concentric circle algorithm is proposed to construct REM of the known transmitters as reference data. Secondly, the frequency scanning measurement is carried out at a limited number of points by the test terminal, by comparing the measured data with the reference data, exist of the unknown transmit source is detected based on the strong interfrequency signal strength. Thirdly, the key parameters of the unknown transmit source can be estimated by the two-point measurement method, which combines with the concentric circle algorithm to construct the REM of the unknown transmit source. The proposed method is characterized by its universality, efficient drawing, and precise detection, which provides a new idea for assessment of network coverage and analysis of complex field for mountaineers or soldier.
