Designing a Bio-Inspired Meta-System for Companies Transitioning to a Circular Economy

Companies must take on the challenge of rethinking their business models to become more adaptive and resilient. This requires them to evolve their management systems to address is-sues related to environmental variability, resource limitations, eco-logical pressures, as well as the cognitive and behavioral constraints inherent to the human species, and its existential meaning, while adhering to the principles of sustainable development. Bio-mlmetics, as a component of the circular economy (CE), offers methodological elements and coherent tools to facilitate this trans-formation. Based on a state-of-the-art review of the biomimetics, and related methods and tools such as ontologies and taxonomies, we identified future research direction aimed at designing sustain-able bio-inspired meta-systems aligned with conceptual and concrete paradigms inspired by living systems.
