Design of Loop Type Flow Channel for Battery Thermal Management

For air cooling, a significant temperature difference exists between the inlet and outlet batteries because of the continuous rise of air temperature along the flow direction. The traditional Z-type and U-type flow channel are difficult to achieve temperature balance in large battery packs through local structural adjustments. Therefore, this work proposes a loop type flow channel and establishes a battery module model with 64 batteries. Compare with Z-type and U-type flow channel, loop type flow channel exhibits best performance. In addition, the influence of inlet flow velocity on the three structures was also studied.
