ZPA Tuning Method for LCC-S IPT System Using Two Switch-Controlled Capacitors on the Primary Side

In inductive power transfer (IPT) systems, deviations in the self-inductance of the coils, mutual inductance, and compensation capacitances from their designed values can cause the system to detune, shifting it out of the zero-phase angle (ZPA) regime and, as a result, reducing power transfer efficiency. To restore optimal performance, it is essential to return the system to the ZPA state. This paper proposes a tuning method for the ZPA of an LCC-S IPT system, utilizing a switch-controlled capacitors (SCCs) instead of fixed capacitors on the primary side. The effectiveness of the method is validated through numerical simulation.
