Design, Analysis and Investigations of a Double-Sided Linear Induction Motor and its Possible Application with TF-DSLIM

This paper presents the comprehensive design, analysis, and experimental investigation of a Double-Sided Linear Induction Motor (DSLIM), with a specific focus on its integration within a Translational Flux Double-Sided Linear Induction Motor (TF-DSLIM) framework for advanced transportation and industrial applications. The study begins with a detailed design methodology of the DSLIM, considering key parameters such as pole pitch, air gap flux density, end effects, and thrust performance. Finite Element Method (FEM)-based simulations are conducted to evaluate electromagnetic behavior and to optimize motor geometry for enhanced efficiency and thrust force. A prototype is developed and tested under various loading and supply conditions to validate the simulation results. The research also explores the advantages of the TF configuration, particularly its capability to reduce transverse edge effects and improve force linearity and control.
