Basic Design and Analysis Results of 800kW Bearingless Motor with Consequent-pole Rotor

In this paper, a basic design process and FEM analysis results are presented for 800kW bearingless motor unit. The bearingless motor has a consequent-pole rotor with four iron poles and four permanent magnet poles. The suspension winding structure, stator tooth structure, stator slot number were investigated. The target torque and suspension force are about 1700Nm and 7000N, respectively for one unit. The efficiency was found to be about 99%. It is noted that the volt-ampere requirement at the suspension winding terminals is only 24.1kVA.
