Design and Implementation of Line-Start SynRM with Flux-Linkage Based Sensorless Drive Systems

Recently, SynRM drive systems have been developed due to their better performance than induction motor drive systems used for freezers, including no rotor copper loss and slip. In this paper, a 3-phase, 0.5 Kw, line-line 220 V, 60 Hz line-start SynRM is implemented first. Then, a flux-linkage-based sensorless SynRM drive system is designed and implemented. Basic new concepts and several experimental results are shown here. Experimental results show the proposed drive system provides better performance, including no rotor copper loss, good robustness, and satisfactory dynamic responses than the induction motor drives for the applications of freezers.A digital signal processor, typed TMS-F28035 is used to execute the flux position estimation and control algorithms. As a result, the hardware circuits are very simple. The results demonstrate that the proposed method are suitable for the application of industrial freezers.
