Evaluating the Learner Experience of the TCPD Learning Management System for Primary School Teachers in Tanzania

This study evaluates the Teachers' Continuous Professional Development (TCPD) Learning Management System (LMS) for primary school teachers in Tanzania. Usability testing was conducted with 58 teachers from both rural and urban schools using a mixed-methods approach, including think-aloud protocols, focus groups, questionnaires, and User Experience (UX) analytics. The results showed that 79.4 % of teachers accessed the LMS via mobile phones, emphasizing the need for mobile optimization. Identified challenges included difficulties with account creation, dashboard navigation, multimedia engagement, discussion forums, and certificate generation. Despite these issues, 73.5 % of teachers stated they would recommend the LMS. The study highlights the importance of ongoing refinements to enhance usability, particularly for mobile users, to better support teachers' professional development.
