Windup Analysis and Anti-Windup Control for Grid-Forming Voltage Source Converter

The windup problem of the grid-forming controlled voltage source converter (GFM - VSC) after grid voltage drop has been extensively studied. However, the existing analytical methods are relatively complex. This paper specifically analyzes the antiwindup problem under the long fault-clearing time (FCT) and presents a simpler analytical perspective. First, this paper establishes the coupling model of reactive power control and voltage control. Through this model, the mechanism of windup in the grid - forming controlled voltage source converter and the influence of key parameters on windup are revealed. Finally, based on the theoretical research results, this paper proposes an anti-windup control method. The simulation results verify the rationality of the proposed theory and method.
