Structural Optimization and Research of a Novel Linear- Rotary Permanent Magnet Motor

The unique winding and permanent magnet array of the linear-rotary permanent magnet motor (LRPMM) enable the mover to achieve three types of motion: rotation, linear, and helical. Based on the finite element method, the parameter optimization is conducted including circumferential teeth width, permanent magnet size, and core materials. Along with the increase of the circumferential teeth width, the motor's output capacity can significantly enhance, but the detent force also increases. After structure optimization, the torque and force increase by 19.46% and 11.36% under spiral motion, respectively. Moreover, both the torque and force ripples are apparently reduced.
