Research of PWA Modeling and Predictive Control for the MCR-BWPT Systems

Current modeling approaches for magnetically coupled resonant bidirectional wireless power transfer (MCR-BWPT) systems often overlook the hybrid characteristics during linearization, leading to an incomplete representation of the inherent hybrid nature of the system, resulting in a decrease in transmission efficiency and dynamic response ability of the MCR-BWPT system. This article examines the steady-state operational characteristics of the D-LCL MCR-BWPT system. By employing the v-step discretization technique, the switching cycle is divided into v subcycles, and the state variable update function is repeatedly computed for each subcycle to account for the complex attributes in the MCR-BWPT system. This method generates a piecewise affine (PWA) model that accurately captures the direct interactions between the duty cycle and the continuous state variables. A predictive functional control (PFC) strategy is developed for the MCR-BWPT system using the PWA model as the predictive framework, guided by a quadratic performance criterion. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach are validated through simulation and experimental prototypes, with comparisons made to an impedance model based on PQ power control. The results indicate that the PWA model demonstrates significant accuracy and excels in capturing the hybrid characteristics of the system. Applying the PFC approach with the PWA model improves both power transmission and efficiency in the MCR-BWPT system.
