The Impact of Admission Factors on Academic Performance in Engineering Education

The paper examines the relationship between the results of the Unified State Exam, the individual achievements of applicants and other characteristics with academic performance during the first semester of study in engineering training areas. In the course of the study, statistical criteria were used to identify the relationship of data on applicants with their academic results. The researchers expect that the patterns identified during the study will help in the design and development of a system for supporting and adapting students to the educational process of the first year of study in order to improve the overall level of students' academic performance in engineering fields of study. Based on the results of the work, the authors note the possibility in the future to consider the prospects for the integrated use of machine learning models and neural networks in the field of forecasting and monitoring student academic performance in engineering areas of higher education.
