FMCW Radar Analysis for Real-World ADAS Applications Using Altair WinProp

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have been developed as a key technology to mitigate road fatalities, significantly enhancing passenger safety through features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Crash Warning, and Stop & Go functionality. This study presents a detailed analysis and post-processing of Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radars employed in ADAS applications. To evaluate performance, a series of scenarios closely replicating real-world conditions were constructed, with simulations and post-processing conducted in Altair WinProp and analyzed Doppler range versus velocity maps.
