Enhanced Dual-Axis Solar Tracking System with Integrated Weather Monitoring

Renewable energy, particularly solar power, holds promise as a solution to mitigate this problem. The dual-axis solar tracking system with integrated weather monitoring to optimize solar energy harvesting is presented where, the system dynamically adjusts the orientation of solar panels to track the sun's movement along both azimuth and elevation axes, using light-dependent resistors (LDRs) to detect sunlight intensity and servo motors to control panel positioning. Weather parameters, including temperature and humidity, are monitored using a DHT11 sensor, enabling real-time adjustments based on environmental conditions. The system incorporates an Arduino micro controller for central control and coordination, an LCD display for real-time data visualization, and an IoT module for remote monitoring and data logging. This methodology involves designing and implementing the system using readily available components and open-source platforms. Eexperiments were conducted to evaluate the tracking accuracy and energy generation improvements compared to fixed solar panels under various lighting conditions. Results demonstrated the system's ability to successfully track the sun's movement throughout the day on the user interface. The integrated weather monitoring provided real-time data, with a sample reading of 27°C temperature and 63% humidity. The integration of weather monitoring and IoT capabilities enhances system functionality, providing potential for user convenience and system optimization based on real-world data.
