IOT based Automatic Manhole Monitoring and Alerting System

The future objective of a smart city revolves around enhancing public facilities and maintaining cleanliness. The incorporation of intelligent subterranean infrastructure is a pivotal consideration in the development of smart cities. For the city's general cleanliness and well-being, the manhole system must be effectively monitored. The inefficiencies associated with manual monitoring result in sluggish handling of drainage issues, prolonging the resolution process. To tackle these challenges, a system has been devised, utilizing a sensor network that is wireless and made up of individual sensors. This proposed system is characterized by its real-time, IoT- based, and low-maintenance features, promptly notifying the management station through messages in the event of a manhole exceeding predetermined threshold values. Beyond benefiting the general public, this technology also mitigates the mortality risks faced by manual scavengers involved in underground drain cleaning.
