Embracing the AI era: optical network evolution to scale the backbone

The rapid growth of AI is driving significant changes in Meta's network infrastructure. Exponential traffic growth in the backbone network requires a scalable optical backbone network that meets quality of service for all services. We are adopting a point-to-point network topology combined with $C+L$-band line system and $Z R+$ pluggables. The combination of these technologies enables simplifying the design, improving the deployment and enhancing the performance and efficiency of the network.
