Implementation Penalties for Nonlinear Interference Estimation with Linear Least Squares Longitudinal Power Monitoring

We investigate the practical implementation penalty of using hard-decided symbols to generate the reference signal in linear least squares longitudinal power monitoring for nonlinear interference estimation, both numerically and over a $17 \times 65-\mathrm{km}$ experimental setup.
