A Detailed-Routability-Driven 3D Global Router Using Soft Demand and Pin Map Factor

As physical design rules become increasingly complex and designs scale up in size, traditional global routers using grid-based models are insufficient for accurately considering detailed-routability during the global routing stage. This often results in a significant gap between global routing outcomes and the final routing results. In this paper, we propose a Soft Demand Ratio (SDR) calculation method to accurately predict and reserve the resources needed for detailed routing, thereby significantly enhancing routability. Experimental results on benchmarks provided by the ICCAD 2019 [2] global routing contest show that our approach achieves an average improvement of 3.15 % compared to CUGR [3] and 1.98% compared to CUGR 2 [1]. This demonstrates the effectiveness of our method in improving the routability and overall quality of routing solutions.
