Modeling Point Source Potentials in Horizontally Layered Soils

This paper presents a novel model for electric current dissipation in horizontally stratified multilayer soils, applicable to arbitrary point source locations and evaluated at any spatial coordinate. The soil characteristic functions, which govern the boundary conditions across layer interfaces and the solution domain, are obtained by solving a linear system. Once these functions are established, the electric potential is computed using a Bessel-type integral, efficiently evaluated via the Ogata-Sugihara quadrature method, which has demonstrated high accuracy for this class of problems. Several case studies are conducted, and the results are validated through comparison with simulations from existing literature using Finite Element Analysis.
