Three-Level Analysis of Switched-Capacitor Converters Using Ladder Diagrams

Switched-capacitor converters (SCCs) are transcribed as ladder diagrams and are analyzed at different complexity levels: (1) ideal SCC with no load; (2) SCC with finite load and infinite output capacitor; and (3) SCC with finite load and finite output capacitor. In working out the (1/2)X 2N-phase interleaving SCC, the current handling capability of an IC fabrication process is introduced. A SCC, under specific conditions, with unity efficiency is also identified.
