3D-Printed Bionic Arm with Flex Sensor Control

This paper presents the design and implementation of a 3D-printed bionic arm controlled by flex sensors and an Arduino UNO. The prosthetic arm is fabricated using ABS material and incorporates servo motors and nylon fibers to replicate natural finger movement. The system is designed as a cost-effective assistive technology for individuals with upper limb disabilities, leveraging readily available components and 3D printing for accessibility. The bionic arm’s performance was evaluated based on accuracy, response time, and durability. Experimental results demonstrated high precision in finger articulation (92.5% accuracy), an average response time of 1000 ms, and reliable long-term functionality. The findings indicate that this system effectively balances affordability and functionality, providing an accessible prosthetic solution for broader adoption.
