Trafomatic Network for Emergency Vehicles (TNEV)

In urban environment emergency vehicle response time is greatly affected by traffic congestion. The chapter introduces Trafomatic Network for Emergency Vehicles (TNEV), a new system employing cutting edge computer vision and machine learning to improve traffic for ambulances and fire engines. Using existing IP cameras, TNEV detects emergency vehicles in real time with the help of AI technology. Upon the detection of the contraband in a container, the system dynamically adjusts traffic signals to give priority to the contraband to pass, while warning the drivers in the near vicinity. An advantage of this method over conventional ones is that of enhanced safety as well as improved scalability. The TNEV seeks to greatly improve the public safety and urban traffic management efficiency and to significantly reduce emergency response time.
