A New Method for Data Synchronization in Distribution Networks Based on Fault Time Detection

The synchronization method based on fault time provides a new approach for data synchronization in distribution networks. However traditional fault time detection methods that rely on phase current sudden changes are affected by various factors, such as the moment of fault occurrence and the characteristics of distributed generator (DG), which can result in significant synchronization errors. To improve the accuracy of data synchronization based on fault time detection, a new synchronization method for distribution networks is proposed, which utilizes morphological method to detect the voltage and current sudden changes: incorporating phase current and voltage sudden change detection to select a data window, then applying a morphological gradient operator for multi-resolution processing on the data within the window to obtain gradient signals that highlight waveform sudden changes, and extracting the fault time from the positions of the extreme points of the gradient signal. Simulating data validate the detection accuracy of this method, enabling high-precision synchronization for both sides of the fault segment and the entire line based on fault information.
