Precise Detection and Control of the Opening Degree of Electrically Controlled EGR Valves Based on Non-Contact Magnetic Field Sensing

Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technology plays a pivotal role in the domain of engine energy conservation and emission reduction. The precise control of EGR valve opening is paramount to optimize its performance. This paper proposes a non-contact magnetic field angle sensing-based EGR valve opening detection method, which indirectly obtains the valve position through magnetic field angle sensing. A comprehensive analysis of the nonlinear characteristics of the cam drive mechanism and other multi-source error factors has led to the formulation of a segmented linear fitting error compensation strategy. This strategy involves the establishment of a linear mapping relationship between the valve opening and the magnetic field angle, thereby enabling the online correction of the aforementioned error sources. Furthermore, a dual closed-loop current-displacement control system for the EGR valve has been designed by applying this method. The experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of this method in enhancing the precision of EGR valve opening detection and control, thereby meeting the demands of industrialized production and efficient engine operation.
