A Study on the Correlation Between Battery SOH and the Peak Temperature Rise During Charging

There is a close relationship between battery thermal history and battery aging. While most of the current studies on battery state of health (SOH) estimation start from the electrical characteristics of the battery, this study explores the feasibility of using thermal history for SOH estimation. This study establishes an electrochemical thermal coupling model and solves it through finite element method. This study simulates the cycling of cylindrical ternary lithium-ion batteries to explore the development patterns of battery thermal history at different environmental temperatures and to investigate the correlation between battery thermal history and SOH. The results indicate that there is an exponential relationship between the peak temperature rise of the battery during the charging stage and its state of health.
