Collaborative Optimization for Multi-Community Integrated Energy Systems Considering Energy Sharing

The multi-community integrated energy system (MCIES) has emerged as an effective approach to integrating distributed energy resources (DERs) and multiple types of loads. To address the challenges posed by increasing electricity demand and large-scale DER integration, this paper proposes a collaborative optimization method for MCIES with a focus on energy sharing. A collaborative optimization framework is developed to enhance energy provision among interconnected energy communities through coordinated decision-making. A distributed rolling co-optimization strategy is implemented to ensure efficient energy allocation while maintaining system flexibility. Simulation results demonstrate that energy sharing significantly reduces total operational costs and decreases renewable energy curtailment, highlighting the benefits of a collaborative approach in MCIES.
