The Power Capacity Configuration Method Based On Graphical Analysis Under the “Dual Carbon” Goals

Planning rational power capacity configuration schemes under the “Dual Carbon” goals is a crucial foundation for developing and utilizing new types of power systems. Existing capacity configuration methods have issues with weak interpretability and strategic depth. This paper introduces a power capacity configuration method based on graphical analysis. Firstly, we model the cost of annual utilization hours per unit of capacity for various power sources, subsequently plotting their cost curves. Secondly, we combine the annual utilization hours cost curves of each power source with the annual load duration curve, using graphical analysis to find intersections as a means to plan the capacity configuration scheme for each power source. Lastly, we use actual data from a region in 2020 as an example, this method is applied to plan the power capacity configuration scheme for the region from 2030 to 2034, and taking 2030 as a case study, we analyze the power capacity configuration schemes under various scenarios. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is simple, transparent, easy to understand and explain, and can serve as a reference for professionals in their planning efforts.
