Development of Crawler Crane Condition Monitoring System Based on Digital Twin

Due to the difficulty in real-time monitoring of the working status of crawler cranes and the high accident rate caused by over-reliance on operator experience, a condition monitoring system is developed based on unity3D and crawler crane related parameters. First, the overall architecture of the digital twin system of crawler cranes is proposed based on the five-dimensional model of digital twins. Secondly, the twin model of the crawler crane test prototype is established using 3D modeling software, and the model is optimized by reducing the surface based on the edge collapse algorithm, with an average optimization of 33%. Then, the twin data acquisition and transmission scheme is designed based on the needs of twin data. Finally, the working status and key parameters of the crawler crane are monitored based on the unity3D platform and real-time data transmission, and the model motion is smoothed by combining the spherical linear interpolation method. The test system condition monitoring accuracy error is less than ±2% and the response delay is less than or equal to 2ms, and can reach a minimum of 0.65ms, which verifies the real-time and reliability of the crawler crane condition monitoring system.
