Analyzing EEG signals of Schizophrenic patients in Time and Frequency domains

Schizophrenia (SZ) is a complex psychiatric disorder characterized by disturbances in perception, thought, and emotional regulation. Understanding the neural underpinnings of schizophrenia is crucial for developing effective diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. This abstract provides insights into the frequency and time domain analysis of EEG (electroencephalogram) signals in the context of schizophrenia, based on verified statistical facts. Electroencephalography (EEG) is a non-invasive modality utilized for the purpose of capturing and analyzing the electrical patterns and activity within the brain. EEG signals can be analyzed in both the frequency and time domains to uncover patterns and abnormalities associated with SZ. Statistical analysis of EEG data has confirmed the presence of abnormal brain oscillations in the theta and gamma frequencies, ranges among individuals diagnosed with SZ. Here we have analysed some subjects and found that while hearing Individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia commonly exhibit symptoms such as N100 negative deflection in EEG brain wave to 5-10% and to a frequency range of -4 to +4 HZ, hallucinations, characterized by the presence of vivid and sensory experiences that are not grounded in reality. The analysis used here, termed electrophysiological (ERP) analysis is done on the data to provide important data that provides statistical information and time-frequency analysis, where accuracy of detecting and classifying the condition is not the final goal.
