Thwarting Brute Force Attacks in IIOT Using Combined Block Cipher Mode and Diverse Security Techniques

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has brought significant change into industrial automation and efficiency, and is accompanied by security risk, mainly presented in brute force attacks. These attacks can be very damaging, they can compromise sensitive data, disrupt operations and lead to very severe economic consequences. Based on this, in this paper we propose a new security framework that combines different security techniques with various block cipher modes to resist brute force attacks in IIoT environments. In addition, the framework incorporates other countermeasures such as dynamic key management, machine learning based on anomaly detection, and multi factor authentication to protect resource constrained IIoT devices from malicious attacks. This approach provides low latency encryption, scalability and flexibility needed for real time industrial processes. The effectiveness of the framework in stopping brute force attacks without imposing significant computational overhead is experimentally evaluated. The study highlights the need for an adoption of a multi layered security concepts in an IIoT environment that is balanced to the maximum robust protection and operational efficiency.
