V2V: DSRC Protocol-based Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication for Road Safety and Traffic Management

This approach focuses on the application of the Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC) protocol for Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication to enhance road safety, traffic flow, and efficiency of motorized vehicles on the road. The implementation focuses on simulating real-time vehicular communication and interaction within a local network, eliminating the need for additional hardware. The repeated pilot implementation shows that this work imitates the essential V2V functions such as collision avoidance, lane control, and dynamic traffic signals by utilizing Python modules and custom-built DSRC communication logic. The operational characteristics include item response time, message handling rate, and the probability of delivering all packets to their intended destinations, which are used to measure the efficiency of the system. This work therefore confirms that DSRC is effective in developing safer, smarter urban traffic environments.
