Inclusive Educational Platform: Interactive Quizzes with Integrated Text-to-Speech for Blind and Sighted Children

This paper introduces a unified web-based quiz platform designed to support both blind and sighted children through three interactive quiz types: Jumble Words, Simple Quiz, and Guess the Item. The platform integrates text-to-speech (TTS) and voice navigation to bridge accessibility gaps in online educational tools, enabling visually impaired children to participate independently without external assistance. Unlike traditional quiz platforms, which often lack assistive technology and segregate users with visual impairments, this solution ensures inclusive learning by providing an intuitive, accessible, and interactive experience for all users.The frontend is developed using React.js, while the backend is powered by Node.js with MongoDB. The Web Speech API is incorporated to facilitate text-to-speech and voice input functionalities, ensuring seamless interaction. To evaluate the platform’s effectiveness, usability tests were conducted with both blind and sighted children. The results demonstrated positive engagement and accessibility, validating the impact of features such as voice navigation and auditory feedback. Additionally, sighted users found the platform’s interactive elements engaging, further reinforcing its inclusive design.
