Optimisation of Grounding Resistance Reduction in Mountainous Wind Farms under Complex Terrain

For the complex terrain mountain wind farm grounding system due to high soil resistivity, seasonal climate changes caused by frequent lightning strikes, this study proposes a dynamic grounding optimization framework integrating on-site soil characterization, seasonal coefficient correction, and CDEGS-based topology design, which overcomes the limitations of static models in existing literature and achieves a 60% reduction in grounding resistance for rocky mountain wind farms. Firstly, the soil resistivity characterization and grounding resistance detection are completed through on-site testing; Secondly, this paper quantitatively reveals the relationship between wind turbine grounding resistance and grounding conductor diameter, soil reflection coefficient, rain and snow infiltration effect, and carries out the analysis of the different influences of the tower strut height - the length of externally induced grounding body; Finally, based on CDEGS software, the optimization design of wind turbine and tower grounding network of a wind farm in Hebei was carried out, and the unqualified wind turbine and tower grounding resistance values were reduced to within the specification value by the design. This study provides reliable resistance reduction technology support for the safe and efficient development of mountainous wind farms, effectively reduces the risk of lightning disaster and improves the stability of the system lightning protection.
