Research and Application of Grounding Electrode Feed Rod Condition Detection Based on Strong Induced Polarization Method

This study employs the strong excitation polarization method to assess the condition of grounding electrode rods at field measurement points. During the initial testing phase, the number of grounding rods was gradually increased. Two months later, a comparative test was conducted at the first measurement point, along with additional tests at the remaining points. By measuring the time constant τ of the equivalent double-layer capacitor discharge between the grounding rods and the soil, the condition of the grounding rods was evaluated. Experimental results indicate a positive correlation between the time constant τ and the amplitude of the injected current, as well as a nonlinear relationship between τ and the condition of the grounding rods. Based on multiple experiments and comparisons with the AC impedance method, a time constant τ-based identification method is proposed to assess the overall condition of the grounding electrodes.
