Arc Discharge in Connector Components and Its Application in Intermittent Fault Diagnosis

Electrical connectors are key components in modern electronic devices. However, intermittent faults (Ifs) in connector components are very common and can lead to significant malfunctions in electrical systems. This paper investigates the arc discharge signals generated by connectors during intermittent faults and explores how these signals can be used to diagnose such faults based on their characteristics. Through detailed analysis and experimental studies, we identified key features of arc waves that can effectively detect and diagnose intermittent faults in various types of connector damage, such as damaged solder joints, cracked pin connections, loose wire connections, and worn connectors. Our research shows that arc discharge characteristics provide valuable insights into the fault conditions of connector components, enabling early detection and mitigation of potential system failures. The results of our study have important implications for improving the reliability and safety of electrical systems.
