Cold Chain Asset Tracking System using BLE Mesh

The transportation of temperature-sensitive goods in refrigerated trucks presents significant challenges in ensuring consistent temperature control throughout the journey. Maintaining a consistent and optimal temperature during transit is essential to prevent spoilage, contamination, and loss of efficacy. Traditional monitoring methods often fail to provide real-time, accurate, and reliable data, leading to potential risks and increased operational costs. This paper proposes the real time monitoring and analysis of temperature data in the refrigerated trucks using BLE Mesh Network. Nordic Semiconductor nRF52832, a versatile Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) SoC, as the core component in an asset tracking system is utilized specifically for temperature monitoring in refrigerated trucks. The nRF52832’s low power consumption and robust BLE capabilities make it an ideal choice for continuous, real-time monitoring of environmental conditions. Furthermore, the integration of a cloud-based platform allows for secure, scalable storage of temperature data, enabling remote access and analytics. This system facilitates instant alerts for temperature deviations, ensuring that any risks to product quality or regulatory compliance are promptly addressed.
