A Novel Multisource Multilevel Inverter Using Minimal Switches for Renewable Energy Systems

For applications using renewable energy, this research suggests a novel multisource multilevel inverter structure with few switches. The suggested topology can function with symmetric (equal magnitude) and asymmetric (different magnitude) voltage sources. In symmetric mode, it generates seven output levels using 3 sources of DC voltage and 11 switches. It is capable of producing 21 levels while considering voltage amplitude ratio as 1: 2:7 with an additional switch connected. The level shifted multi carrier pulse width variation approach is used to create the switching signals. The indicated design has been reviewed alongside multiple topologies that exist in the literature. The suggested design is simulated for both R and RL loads for a range of load power factors using MATLAB Simulink, and the simulation's outcomes are examined. The output voltage has 3.90% harmonics, which is in compliance with IEEE regulations.
