Introducing Lightwave Technology Into a Course on Wireless Communications

In many university degree programmes in electrical, electronic, computer, or telecommunications engineering, the subject of wireless communications is taught exclusively in the context of radio frequency signals and applications. However, for a broader exposure to holistic technologies, it is beneficial to learn about methods and applications beyond the radio spectrum. This includes lightwave technologies. We describe our development of a university course in wireless communications that includes both radio and optical technologies.
