Covertness Performance Analysis and Optimization for Random Selection of Channel Use

This paper investigates covert communications for random selection of channel use (RSCU), in which the transmitter Alice randomly chooses the channel to send the information to the receiver Bob against the warden Willie with a probability. Specifically, we first perform a covertness analysis of the system with RSCU scheme. By deriving the closed-form expression of the Kullback-Leibler (KL) divergence, the closed-form expression between the effective throughput and each parameter is obtained. Further, with the aim of maximizing the effective throughput, we obtain the optimal configuration scheme of transmission power, selection probability and transmission blocklength. The simulation results show that the optimized selection probability can improve the average effective throughput (AET) without changing covert tolerance level.
