Experimental Stand for Testing a Home Automation Solution

Innovative technologies used to increase human comfort based on concepts such as smart home, home automation, Internet of Things are already an increasingly widespread reality in modern homes. This paper presents an experimental stand for testing and validating smart home solutions, which aims to implement functionalities such as monitoring and controlling environmental data (temperature, humidity and air quality), home access control (electromagnetic door lock, servo motors and actuators control, secure access based on radio frequency identification), user-centered display interfaces, alarms/notifications system, all these for the benefit of human comfort. An important feature of the implemented automation system (based on an Arduino UNO R4 Wi-Fi board) is the client-server architecture based on Wi-Fi communication, which allows remote monitoring and control of various devices and equipment within the smart home. The proposed monitoring and control solution was validated through a series of test scenarios designed and carried out on the implemented experimental stand, proving its adequate functioning in various conditions (according to the requirements), respectively its reliability.
