A Native Integration of Digital Twins and the AI/ML Framework in the 6G Architecture

This paper describes an immersive integration Of Digital Twins (DTs) and the native AI as a service (AIaaS) framework with the 6G network. As the paper shows, the new subsystems to be efficiently integrated need tight coupling with the new generation of mobile networks. The proposed integration introduces new system planes, the Network Information Plane and the Network Reconfiguration Plane. The first of the planes focuses on network monitoring and data analytics, whereas the second handles reconfiguration workflows in a hybrid Digital/Physical Twin environment. The services offered by both planes can be reused not only by DTs and the AIaaS framework but also for network management, orchestration and network exposure to applications and other networks in a multi-provider environment. To cope with 6G requirements, the concept proposes to use multiple, domain-based DTs, which may dynamically form a federation for end-to-end DT creation. The integration mechanism allows for easy integration of the real network and its digital twin functions - enabling a new feature deployment.
