Location Monitoring of Overhead Power Lines During Repair Work

During the operation of the location probing complex on the operating power transmission lines, the occurrence of spikes in the measured parameters of reflectograms (attenuation and delay of reflected signals) was detected. In this regard, it is necessary to find out the reasons for their occurrence. Objective. To analyze the experimental data of location probing of the operating 110 kV power transmission line “Kutlu Bukash - Rybnaya Sloboda”. To describe the effect of influence of changes in the power transmission line state on the reflected signals of location probing and their spectral composition. To analyze changes in the numerical parameters of attenuation and delay of reflected signals when switching power transmission lines. Methods. The location probing method is implemented using a reflectometer connected to the Kutlu Bukas -Rybnaya Sloboda line. In the PSCAD software environment, a simulation model of the high-frequency (HF) path of the operating 110 kV power transmission line given above was developed. Results. The analysis showed that changes in the power transmission line configuration, such as its shutdown or removal for repair, cause distortion of reflected location signals and their measured attenuation and delay parameters. Conclusion. Taking this factor into account during location probing will allow determining the current power transmission line configuration and prevent false alarms when it changes.
