BioCatch: A Children’s Nature Treasure Hunt Educational Game Based on AIGC Technology

This study introduces BioCatch, a children’s nature treasure hunt game utilizing Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) technology, aimed at enhancing plant cognition in children. Developed with ChatGPT, the game features the BioCatch Plant Sprite, a virtual guide for identifying and interacting with various plants. Children are presented with textual and pictorial clues for three different plants, fostering engagement and learning about plant characteristics. A user study involving two groups of children aged 6 to 12—one playing BioCatch and the other observing plants directly—revealed that the game significantly improved the experimental group’s cognitive understanding of plant characteristics compared to the control group.
