Research and Design of Turbo-Spin Nozzle for Fuel-Water Mixing

In order to configure highly homogeneous supersaturated water fuel for icing test of civil aircraft fuel system, a turbo-spin water nozzle was researched and designed. Firstly, the driving torque and resistance torque of the nozzle rotation under different fuel flow rate and different injection speed are studied. And then the dynamic characteristics of the nozzle rotation under different conditions are obtained by the principle of torque balance. In addition, the atomization performance of the nozzle is also studied, the movement process of atomized water droplets in the flowing fuel under different environments is analyzed, the droplet motion equation is established, and the real-time displacement of atomized water droplets in the fuel are obtained by numerical iterative algorithm. The calculation results show that the water droplets can disperse quickly and have high uniformity during the water addition process of the fuel-water mixing spin nozzle, which can be effectively applied to the experimental fuel with high uniformity of fuel-water mixing required for the icing experiment of the fuel system.
