Trends in Student Attrition in Private Universities: An Analysis in Ecuador

This study addresses the issue of student dropout in universities, underscoring its impact on educational, economic, and social systems. Logistic regression was employed to discern the characteristics of dropouts using data from a private university in Cuenca, Ecuador, spanning 2022 and 2023. The study enabled us to identify that, in Ecuador, dropout is associated with factors such as deficiencies in academic variables and family per capita income. It aims to contribute to formulating policies and strategies to enhance student retention across various fields of knowledge in higher education.
