Augmented Reality as a Didactic Resource in Middlehigh School Education in Ambato-Ecuador

Technological advancement and “Industry 4.0” has brought with it a change in the workplace and consequently in the educational aspect. Unfortunately, education has not changed at the same speed as technology, this has had an impact on the fact that classes have become an unattractive activity for high school students. In view of this problem, it is proposed to use augmented reality as a didactic strategy within an innovative educational process. The level of knowledge and use of augmented reality as a didactic resource was evaluated. Unfortunately, the results were very discouraging since only 23% said they knew about this technology and 9% mentioned using it in their classes. It was also found that the level of handling of the technology is medium-low. A didactic plan for the use of augmented reality in the classroom is proposed, to be complemented with frequent training. Finally, it is concluded that augmented reality can be a great support resource for an innovative educational process.
