Design and Characterization Analysis of C-shape Unit Cell for Wideband Communication Systems

The C-shape Unit Cell structure is proposed and analyzed in this study. Types of metamaterials were also observed and determined the unit cell array performance for the capability of communication systems. Here, Rogers RT5880 is a substrate with a 2.1 dielectric constant used to support the overall design. 10×10 mm² dimension base copper metal is used to achieve the desired design structure with a thickness of 0.035 mm. The Epsilon Negative (ENG) and Mu Negative (MNG) materials characteristics are found in the proposed C-shaped unit cell, 1×2 array structure, and 2×2 array structure which are caused by the electric and magnetic effect on the system. At the resonant frequency of 7.15 GHz, the maximum magnitude of the transmission coefficient is -70.44dB in the proposed C-shaped unit cell. The array structure also provides the properties of epsilon negative and mu negative behavior to allocate the transmitting signal. CST Studio suite 2021 software is used for optimization purposes based on the FIT method. The capability of absorption is obtained in this proposed system. Also, this proposed array structure and C-shape unit cell covered the C-band, X-band, and Ku-band frequency range. Hence, the properties of ENG and MNG materials obtained from this study have higher bandwidth and gain of the cell systems. The capability of absorption was also observed in this study which is a significant advantage of wireless communication systems or sensing applications. Therefore, the characteristics of this proposed unit cell also balanced the band frequency very smartly and faster in wideband communication systems.
