Effect of Ultrasonic Bird Repellent on Pigeon Behavior

To address bird-related issues in power systems, ultrasonic bird repellers have been introduced and applied to power system management. To evaluate the actual effectiveness of ultrasonic bird repellers, this study proposes a new experimental method aimed at exploring the impact mechanism of ultrasonic bird repellers on pigeon behavior. Pigeons were selected as the model animals, and a series of experiments were designed to observe the effects of the ultrasonic repeller on pigeon behavior. The experimental area was divided into four zones, with the ultrasonic bird repeller suspended in the air and moved between different zones. The trajectories of the pigeons during the experiment were monitored and analyzed using the VisuTrack animal behavior analysis software. The results showed that the ultrasonic bird repeller had a significant impact on pigeon behavior, but due to individual differences, pigeons exhibited varying degrees of fear response to the ultrasonic waves. The findings provide a reference for the scientific installation and application of ultrasonic bird repellers in power systems.
