Distributed Control Strategy for Hybrid Energy Storage on Grid-Forming Converters

The traditional implementation of hybrid energy storage relies on power control on the DC bus, which is not suitable for distributed power sources. This paper proposes a distributed hybrid energy storage control strategy based on grid-forming converters (GFCs). The strategy uses Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) control and virtual impedance control for power distribution, and applies multi-agent theory to enable hybrid energy storage across multiple distributed energy storage sources. The advantages of this strategy are: first, it can be directly applied to energy storage sources connected to the AC grid; second, it allows for complementary advantages among multiple distributed energy storage systems of different types; third, it leverages multi-agent theory, resulting in a lower communication burden; and finally, the effectiveness of this strategy is verified through Matlab/Simulink simulation experiments.
